YACK CREEK DISTILLERY

The Yackandandah Creek used to attract gold seekers hoping to find their fortune after gold was first discovered there in 1852.  Today, along with being home to the Blue Murray Spiny Crayfish, the upper reaches of this beautiful High Country stream supplies the water for the distinct new-age spirits being crafted by Yack Creek Distillery.

It’s a fair distance from the beach in Western Australia where 2 friends sat one day discussing their passion for whisky and rum, wondering if they could make their own.  What started as a hobby has now developed into a business and their micro distillery sits along the banks of the creek, only 2 kilometres from the streets of ‘Yack’.  Here you can enjoy their range, which also includes vodka and gin, in their park-like location with lovely landscaping and sitting areas creating a relaxing atmosphere.

Yack Creek Distillery won ‘Champion Victorian Distiller 2022’ at the Australian Distilled Spirit Awards in November 2022.  They took home Gold and Silver for their Whisky and rums and Silver and Bronze for their gins!  In 2020 Yack Creek was Champion Victorian Distillery and when you visit the distillery you can also find their own craft beers on tap. 

If you can’t make it to the distillery, Yack Creek’s range of whisky, rum, vodka and gin can be purchased online and delivered to your door.  Keep an eye on their Facebook or check Google for operating times.  Enjoy the scenic walk from the town to the gorge and along the creek to the distillery.  This path also leads to the trail head of the Yack Tracks Mountain Bike Park along with the new Epic bike trail from Beechworth to Yackandandah.
