WALHALLA GOLDFIELDS RAILWAY
The Walhalla Goldfields Railway is a memorable way to see the spectacular scenery through Stringers Creek Gorge as you journey between Walhalla and Thomson Station in either direction.
The picturesque journey takes around 20 minutes as the train travels over 6 large trestle bridges, past a seasonal waterfall and through natural beauty that was first enjoyed by train travellers in 1910. The Thomson River Bridge is Heritage Listed and is 92 metres long.
Walhalla and Thomson Stations are at either end of the railway line. Thomson Station has refreshments available when the train is operating. Some passengers choose to walk from Walhalla along The Great Walhalla Walking Trail (downhill) to Thomson Station and then board the train back to Walhalla. Others choose to cycle the 7 km Walhalla Goldfields Rail Trail from the town of Erica to Thomson and then board the train to Walhalla (Bicycles are permitted onboard). This can also be done in reverse.
Fares: $15 per Adult one way or $20 return – Children Under 16 $12 one way, $15 return
