REDBANK CELLAR DOOR & MILAWA PROVIDORE

MILAWA

One of the most historic and recognised buildings in the High Country, is the Old Emu Inn, on the intersection in Milawa, built in 1861. It’s home to Redbank Cellar Door and Milawa Providore today, but was originally a hotel, then a court house and public hall from 1880.  Beside the building, near the carpark, is an old police lock-up that has a long history, once housing Ned Kelly.

This small, family run, local business grows the grapes that go into their premium wines and has quickly become known for the delicious gourmet food served in the Providore.  There’s a luscious lawn and beautiful rose garden for people to enjoy while eating outside.  In Winter the roaring fire in Cellar Door is a welcoming haven as you taste and purchase high altitude, cool climate Italian varietals like Fiano and Pinot Grigio. The historic police lock-up has been restored into an intimate dining room.

Redbank Cellar Door and Milawa Providore are proud to use local produce in their kitchen including honey from Walkabout Apiaries, Milawa Organic Chicken, Londrigan Butchers, EV Olives, Blue Ox Jams, The Olive Shop olives, Milawa Cheese, Salus Bakery, Gundowring Ice Cream and Gamze Smokehouse.

This region is one of the most popular wedding destinations and with some historic old buildings like a wedding shed and rustic old barn on site, this property can cater for everything from your ceremony right through to a fabulous reception.
