VIVIENNE CATE

YACKANDANDAH

The historic town of Yackandandah feels like stepping back in time with its well-preserved streetscape.  A stroll along the main street takes you past many original stores that have a long history, one of them is home to a unique retail offering called Vivienne Cate.  Here you will find a collection of cowhides, sheepskins, fashion and homewares, with a focus on natural materials and handmade products and they are passionate about Australian owned/designed products.

Owner, Karen, loves sourcing quality, timeless pieces and looks forward to welcoming you into this gorgeous heritage listed little building which oozes character, warmth and feels like a real step back in time.  Some of the items you can find at Vivienne Cate are:

  • Women’s clothing
  • Leather bags, wallets & purses
  • Premium quality linen
  • iKOU Aromatherapy products
  • Cowhides & sheepskins (Merino & Icelandic)
  • Jewellery
  • Clothing & shoes
  • Décor & accessories
  • Hats & sunglasses

The store has some fascinating history. The original signwriting across the top reads ‘W.J. Newton prop.” Also visible is “The Yackandandah Kid”.  This refers to a previous owner, Bill Newton, who is believed to have lived in the town his whole life.  He was a well known and well liked character and ran several businesses from this shop and the shop next door also, including shoe sales, taxi service, gas bottle delivery and funeral director.

Open Tuesday to Saturday 10am – 4pm.
