NUG NUG WAH HOMESTEAD

The Buffalo River valley is an area of “varying landscape and remarkable beauty” and this is apparent in the Homestead site. It lies at the western edge of Mount Buffalo and looks directly onto Buffalo, Sugarloaf and the Nug Nug hills. The property has direct river frontage and is close to Mount Buffalo National Park. Its attractive garden setting is a haven for abundant birdlife and a tranquil repose for the visitor.

Located only 16km from Myrtleford and the Great Alpine Road, it is the ideal place to relax in comfort while you explore North East Victoria. “Nog Nog Wa” run was first occupied in 1849 when it was around 16,000 acres. In 1860 James Dundas acquired “Nug Nug Wah” station. The Homestead was built by Dundas on an elevated site overlooking the river flats. The original building remains but has been extended and renovated over time. Several of the poplars planted by James Dundas adjacent to the river still remain.

The Homestead Accommodation features fully self-contained units with all bedding and cooking facilities provided. They are separate from the Homestead with their own private entrance, car and boat parking. The units are positioned to take full advantage of the outstanding valley and river views.
