If you love a winery with history then John Gehrig Wines is for you – John, a fourth generation winemaker, established the vineyard & winery on the banks of the King River, Oxley in 1976; only minutes from the Milawa Gourmet Region. John’s son Ross has taken on the challenge of guiding the next winemaking generation of Gehrigs to craft fine wines. Ross has an obsession with producing the best grapes to produce wines of distinction that will pay homage to this iconic Northeast Victorian winery.

In 2011, the allure of returning back into John’s original birthplace – Rutherglen- was too strong, thus Ross with wife Meghan, have expanded to a new vineyard and cellar door site in Gooramadda (east Rutherglen), where along with their Oxley winery, they continue to produce award winning wines.  Their great range can be purchased online or at their wineries, including sparkling, whites, reds and fortified wines, all crafted with generations of passion and experience.

Weddings at John Gehrig Wines:

John Gehrig Wines is located at 2 great North East Victorian locations. At the base of the King Valley, at the culinary cross road of the Milawa Gourmet region in Oxley, where the cellar door has river views as it is situated on the King River and our vineyard will create a day tailored for you. Or Rutherglen which has a historic shed transformed into a cellar door, outside there is the front dam or historic school yard and with 250 acres of vineyard in the background it makes an amazing spot for a ceremony and a glass of sparkling!

Your wedding ceremony can be held at one of the many stunning and versatile outdoor areas within the property that you prefer. The reception can take place in our cellar doors or lawn areas. We can comfortably accommodate up to 80-120 guests for a sit down meal, or more for a cocktail style reception. There is no minimum guest number and arrangements can be made for smaller occasions.

What’s a winery wedding without fantastic wine! You’ll get to enjoy a wide range of family produced wines that are all estate grown & beer picked by yourself, as we can’t choose everything for your special day.

Ross is the estates winemaker and his wife Meghan is the events manager at John Gehrig Wines so you are guaranteed personal service for your special day from the family that lives & works on the vineyard, even our junior’s generation 6 will assist on your perfect day (many hands make light work).
