HIGH COUNTRY RAIL TRAIL
VICTORIA
The High Country Rail Trail, in North East Victoria, travels from Wodonga along the edge of Lake Hume for about 80kms, through Tallangatta and on to Shelley and is a stunning setting for cycling.
One of the many highlights is crossing the 600 metre long Sandy Creek Bridge over Lake Hume. There are endless opportunities to stop for a picnic with a spectacular view and also several access points if you only wish to ride part of the trail. Future extensions of the trail will occur, heading east through more beautiful landscapes and with some parts opening in stages and including historic trestle bridge crossings, this is sure to be a favourite among many. More information on the High Country Rail Trail and the extensions being completed can be found here
