On April 16th, 1917, Annie Edith Pinsent took over the Royal Hotel in Wangaratta. During the time she’d been working in the office at the Royal, she saw possibilities for improvement, and subsequently bought it. So firmly did she imprint her personality on the hotel, that in 1923, the Royal’s name was changed to the Hotel Pinsent.
